Tips and tricks to always keep your car clean

Owning a vehicle can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you can get anywhere you want at any time you want as long as you have gas in the tank. On the other hand, repairs and maintenance are a complete dread and can become quite a problem when they happen in the least expected moment. However, there is one aspect that many people neglect out of pure carelessness is the state of their car in terms of cleanliness and presentation. They don’t care if it’s muddy or if there are food wrappers, empty containers, crumbs, and god knows what else spread around the floor. It is a real problem, and it can admittedly be a hassle to keep your car clean, but if you don’t want your car to look so uncared for, check out the following tips and tricks to keep it squeaky clean.

Use a car cover

To protect the exterior of your car from gathering dust or getting dirty after rain or snow, the way to go is to use a car cover to cover your car. It is literally as easy as throwing the cover on top of your car whenever you leave it parked somewhere that isn’t covered. It is particularly useful if you don’t have a garage or assigned roofed parking, so you are virtually always exposing your car to the elements whenever you park.

Vacuum your car

Crumbs and small bits or remains of different foods and objects are some of the most common and most difficult traces of dirt you can find on your car. Luckily, you don’t need to sweep them off or pick them by hand, because now there are car vacuums designed precisely to ge to the places that are hardest to reach in vehicles. Use a car vacuum whenever you notice you have an excess of dirt on your seats or the floor of your car.

Use an air freshener

Half of the battle with keeping anything clean is not only how it looks to the eye, but also how other senses perceive it. In that sense, cars are much like people, in the sense that scent goes a long way in making someone (or in this case something) more appealing. A simple air freshener of your choice will do wonders to your car and to make it feel more clean.

Clean your shoes

Logically, driving requires you to put your five senses on the road ahead of you. The mechanics of driving put the stress on your hands and feet to control the steering wheels and pedals respectively. Wearing shoes makes it difficult to avoid bringing in dirt from your soles to the floor of your car, but you can reduce the dirt levels by simply knocking your shoes a bit before getting into your car.

Don’t eat or drink in your car

Perhaps the hardest thing to apply on this list of tips is not eating or drinking in your car. Some people’s lifestyles and routines make it almost a necessity, but it is absolutely essential to keep the eating and drinking to a minimum to avoid leaving containers or wrappers in the car. Similarly, keeping yourself from smoking while driving makes it easier to not store any cigarette butts in your cupholders.
